Done and Trash
Completing something and moving it to the Trash both take it off your list. What you complete goes to Done; what you move to the Trash goes to the Trash. Both are dated lists of what has left, kept at the bottom.
Getting to it
Scroll to the end of Everything and the last row is Done, with a tick. It is there whenever Done or the Trash has something in it. Tap or click it and Done opens; Trash is the other tab, one tap away. Push it back down to leave.
Settings → Data & Sync → Show Trash goes straight to the Trash, and the row tells you how many todos are in it. Empty Trash sits under it.
On a Mac, Go → Done and Go → Trash open them directly, and each is greyed out when there is nothing of that kind to see.
Two tabs
- Done: everything you finished, newest first, grouped into Today, This Week and Earlier, each showing the day and time you finished it.
- Trash: everything you moved to the Trash, showing when, and how long you have left to change your mind.
A repeating todo whose series you stopped says so, so you can tell it apart from one you simply finished.
Putting something back
- Under Done, Restore (swipe, or use the menu) or a tap on its tick marks it not done. It goes back on the list.
- Under Trash, Restore, or a tap on its circle, puts it back.
Neither of these is a time-limited undo you have to catch. They work for as long as the todo is in there.
On an iPhone Duo opened out on its side, Done and Trash are two pages too, like your list. Done and Trash stand in the column down the right-hand edge, above the down arrow that takes you back. Tap a todo and it opens on the right-hand page, outlined in the list while the rest dims, and the top of the column holds what you can do with it: Restore and Move to Trash under Done, Restore and Delete Permanently under Trash. Tap another to switch to it, or the same one again to put it down.
Moving to the Trash is reversible; deleting is not
Move to Trash does not ask you to confirm, because there are two ways back: Float offers an Undo straight away (the notice reads Moved to Trash), and Restore keeps working long after.
Two things in Float cannot be taken back, and both ask first: Delete Permanently, on a single todo in the Trash, and Empty Trash, in Settings → Data & Sync, which deletes everything in the Trash at once.
Done todos are never removed on their own. Todos in the Trash are: 30 days after you move something to the Trash it goes for good, and each one counts down how long it has left, so nothing vanishes without warning you first.
