Privacy & Terms

Updated October 28, 2026

Sketchy Horizon is a one-person studio. This page covers every app I make and this website. The short version: my apps don’t collect your content or track you, and there are no servers. What you make in them stays on your devices. If you email me, I receive what you send, and if you join the mailing list, I keep your email address for it.

Privacy

What I collect

Nothing through my apps. They have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind, and I don’t run any servers your data could be sent to. The only personal information I ever receive is what you send me by email and, if you join it, your address on the mailing list, which EmailOctopus keeps for me to send those emails. I never sell or rent either, or share them with anyone else.

Where your stuff lives

On your devices. When an app syncs between your devices, it does it through your own private iCloud account, which Apple runs under Apple’s privacy policy. I can’t see it. Backups and exports are files saved wherever you choose.

Apple services my apps use

Some features run on Apple services: iCloud for sync, the App Store for purchases and free trials, and Apple Weather for optional weather features that use your approximate location. These go straight between your device and Apple. I never receive your payment details, your location or anything you’ve written. Not every app uses all of these; each app’s App Store page and help say which ones it uses.

If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may pass me anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple decides what’s in them, and they don’t identify you.

When you email me

If you write to me, I get your email address and whatever you choose to send. I use it only to answer you, and I delete it when it’s no longer needed for that. My email is hosted by an email provider that may store messages in other countries.

I’m the one responsible for protecting it. To see, correct or delete anything I have from you, or to withdraw your consent, write to privacy@sketchyhorizon.com.

The mailing list

If you sign up on the home page, your email address goes on a list kept by EmailOctopus, the service that sends the emails, and nowhere else. You’re added only after you click the link in the confirmation email it sends. I use the list for one thing: an email when a new app ships, a couple of times a year at most. EmailOctopus handles your address only to send those emails, under its own privacy policy.

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, or ask me at privacy@sketchyhorizon.com. Your address comes off the list right away.

This website

No cookies, no login, and nothing stored in your browser. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, app pages load App Store badges from Apple, and every page loads a small visit counter, Cloudflare Web Analytics. Like any web request, those see your IP address. The visit counter tells me which pages were viewed, which site sent you and roughly what country and kind of device you’re on. It doesn’t use cookies, follow you to other sites or tell me who you are. When you use the mailing list form, my server passes your email address to EmailOctopus and keeps a scrambled form of your IP address for up to an hour, only to stop the form being used to flood strangers with emails.

Terms

The licence

My apps are licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That’s the agreement you accept when you download one of my apps from the App Store, and it’s the whole of the terms. The rest of this section just says what it means in practice.

Buying, trials and refunds

Each app’s App Store page says what it costs and whether it has a free trial. Payment, refunds and restoring a purchase are all handled by Apple; I can’t charge you or refund you myself. Ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your stuff is yours

What you make in my apps belongs to you. Keep backups of anything that matters: my apps are tools, not a safe deposit box, and devices, sync and software can fail. Don’t rely on a reminder or notification for anything with a medical, safety, legal or financial consequence.

Changes and contact

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions about privacy go to privacy@sketchyhorizon.com, and about these terms to legal@sketchyhorizon.com.
